In celebration of St. Andrew's Day and in excitement of heading home for the festive period, I thought I would take this opportunity to highlight some of the best bits and my top tips of what to do in St. Andrews, Scotland.

Stay:

I think if money is no object The Old Course Hotel would be my pref, right on the famous Old Course, a feast of stag heads and tartan, the Spa is out of this world and a cocktail watching the sun set over the Old Course will really make your trip to St. Andrews one to remember.

There are however an abundance of options, B&B's, Hotels and Holiday lettings - obviously busier at certain time of the year but in the off season you can always grab a bargain.

See/Do:

Beaches:

The West Sands, if staying at The Old Course this is on your door step - great for a walk to blow the cobwebs away.

The East Sands Beach, contains a working harbour which when caught early doors you can see the fishermen bring in their nets with the catch of the day.

You can continue along the beach walking right up the hill at the end to the caravan park to catch the views of the whole town.

History:

Full of so much history St. Andrews Cathedral, St.Rule's Tower and the Castle are definitely some of the highlights and worth going round, if on a budget you can just wander round the grounds of the cathedral but for only £8 you can go up the tower and into the Castle.

Golf:

There are 7 Golf Courses for all levels and price ranges to play in St. Andrews and many more a short drive away...

If you are just there for the day or without clubs - head to the Himalayas putting green for a fun hit about.

Eat/Drink:

Book into The Adamson and Rocca for Dinner and Drinks for some 'Date Night' Treats - gorgeous food, drinks and ambiance.

For the best bakery in town hit up Fisher and Donaldsons for a fudge Doughnut.

An Ice Cream in Jannettas

If you are in St.Andrews in the Summer months the Alan Hill Fruit Farm is a must...

However If you are in St. Andrews in the winter - the Jigger Inn for a Sunday lunch and a pint of... is a must!

Shopping:

Farmore Interiors is a must - A gorgeous Lifestyle shop with lots of irresistible little bits to slip into your suitcase or larger items too if your return journey isn't too far!

Johnstone of Elgin is another gorgeous shop.

The Fraser Art Gallery - For the bigger souvenir - A gorgeous Art Gallery

St.Andrews has also recently upped its game with lots of classy shops like Bobbie Brown, Jo Malone and others...

Adamson yumminess...

The Famous Fisher and Donaldson Donuts

The view from Alan Hill Farm Shop.

The cute and gorgeous Jigger Inn

Just a scratch on the surface of what to do and see inn my gorgeous hometown St. Andrews.
